How do you administer cat prozac

Try canned cat food. My cats love (like smell it from five rooms away, run over stuff, mouth watering love) it. I use Iams Ocean Feast or something like that. Use a pill crusher (buy at any pharmacy, Kroger.) and cursh the pill so that it is very fine. Mix it in about a tablespoon or two of the food and present it to the cat as if it is a treat. My cats now look forward to their ''treat'' every night. Good luck!

It is really easy to give ur cat a pill. Just hold his head with one hand & open his mouth with the other. Place the pill at the back of the tongue, hold the mouth closed & then stroke the throat so that he swallows.

It should take a few seconds & u r done with it. Once u have done it, u will see how surprisingly easy it is.

Prozac may work for ur cat or it may not but it is worth a try! Drugs r often tested on animals before they r used on humans so I suspect that this has been tested extensively on cats as many brain altering substances unfortunately are.

if u cat is on prozac for idiopathic cystitis then a change of diet will help, that would be to give less than 40g of dry food which needs to have cranberry extract in it. & 400g of tinned/pouched food.
if it is for depression then bioforce do a natural product to help this or bachs flower remedy. i have also had success with using serenum which is a natural product of amino acids (tablets but crushable & they have a nice flavour (not that i have taken one) i have no trouble with my cats taking these)
if it is for a totally different reason then have someone hold the cat & then gentley open his/her mouth & put the tablet right at the back of the mouth a, close the mouth & stroke the throat (i have found tablets lose their flavour by being put in the fridge & then rolled in butter) hope this info helps
edit thank u for info i suggest bachs rescue remedy & bioforce but u can speak to them about which is the best one. drop onto food & mix in or put into water u can give directly to the cat. also serenum will certainly help as it will give a boost to important amino acids. hang on in there he will get better give him space & plenty of tlc.

There is a gel form that is rubbed into the cat is ear. It was developed for veterinary use, so you would see it labeled fluoxetine, the generic name.

You should be able to get it from your vet.

Good for your cat! They are hardly studies on what the long term affects on humans are with that drug, I can not imagine what studies if any were done on cats. Maybe you can tell us what the problems are in the first place that would make a vet prescribe that?
