shortly l will start taking prozac for anxiety and would like to know some of the side effects and whether the drug can 1) alter the chemistry in your brain permanantly 2) make you commit suicide and 3) make you go mental? i'd really appreciate some honestand feed back.

The reason they say antidepressants can increase suicidal tendencies is because they increase ur energy levels first & the then lift ur mood. I think if you're not suicidal in the first place the risk is greatly reduced.
It does not alter the brain chemistry permanently. It is a SSRI, which means serotonin re-uptake inhibitor (or something). Serotonin is one of the chemicals in ur brain that keeps u happy. It is emitted by cells & then taken back. If to much gets taken back u end up feeling low. Prozac & other antidepressants r designed to stop the cells taking so much back. Apparently.
One of the rare listed side effects is mania. Again this is probably caused by the increase in energy, but I am nt really sure. Anyway, it is really rare.
