ALCOHOL DOES [NOT] ERASE YOUR MEDICATION
It can intensify it is effect. Especially with Prozac.
My husband read an article to me several years ago, about a women who had taken it before an office party. She did something that was completely out of character for her. She kissed made out with another woman.
Now, I do not know how old u are, & I know how people r these days. ''Oh, what is the big deal. So what, they made out.'' The woman who took her meds before the party, married. The woman she made out with? Was someone that worked [under] her. She was the woman is boss. And she was married as well.
All [warning labels] tell us not to drink while taking meds.
Good luck.
nothing happens girl! prozac is nothing! its those MAO inhibitor and tricyclic antidepressants you should be worried about.
The reasons u r not supposed to drink are:
First, u r being treated for some kind of psychiatric disorder. Alcohol is never good for depressed or otherwise mentally ill people. It may exacerbate the symptoms of ur illness.
Two, alcohol depresses brain function & prevents the medicine from working properly.
Three, u can simply have a bad reaction when u mix the two. Prozac effects some people differently than others. Add alcohol to the mix, & there is no telling how u could react. You might become manic, or u may become severely depressed. It can cause bood pressure problems, too. Best to simply forego drinking, altogether, until u heal & get off the medicine.
EDIT: poster below me is incorrect. She is refering to hypertensive crisis, commonly caused by MAOI is which r uncommonly used these days. Drinking on Prozac likely wo not kill you, but no one on YA! can tell u this definitively. I am a practicing pharmacist, & I do not know ur health conditions, what dosage u r taking, or anything else that would be needed to accurately assess ur specific case. It is simply NOT a good idea, for the reasons I listed above. It is up to u what u will do, though. Either way, good luck & be safe!
Straight up:
ALCOHOL ERASES MEDICATION COMPLETELY
So if you're going to be drinking, you may as well just not take Prozac.
